How to drive stick.

How to drive stick? It's a lot simpler than you think actually. Alright you've got three pedals the one on the far right is the gas (use with caution lol), the one in the middle is the break (use as much as you want), and the one on the far left is the clutch (use when changing gears, starting vehicle, and first moving). Okay so i pretty much explained how to drive shift already but im going to go into more depth now. When you practice go to a open parking lot or a really big field without things to hit and don't get crazy out there because wrecking isnt that fun and you have to get new car and for thoes of us who can't afford it, it really suck!!!

Step #1 unlock your door, open the door, get in the vehicle, put your seat belt on, and ajust your mirrors. You probably know that though.

Step #2  make sure the vehicle is in neutral because it won't start if it's not (at least my truck won't) now put the key in the ignition push the clutch in as far as it will go and turn the key for it to start. Since the vehicle is in neutral you can let off the clutch and let it idle.

Step #3 now push the clutch in as far as it will go and put the vehicle in 1st gear since its in 1st gear do not let off the clutch or the vehicle will jerk and quit. now barely press the gas but not too litely and let off the clutch slowly at the same time and if the vehicle starts jerking then push the clutch back in a little until it stops jerking.

Step #4 once you get moving you can let off the clutch and if you need to stop then put the clutch back in and hit the break or your vehicle will quit. Now when the engine starts reving a little high that means you need to change up a gear to 2nd gear so push the clutch in and let off the gas a little and move the stick to second gear while still holding the clutch in then let off the clutch and continue pressing the gas and continue doing this until you are in the appropriate gear to drive at the constant speed you need to go which should be no more than the speed limit. To shift down do the same thing except go down a gear and make sure you are going slow enough to shift down or the engine will rev. really  high.

Step #5 to reverse use almost the same method as when you first start off except put the shifter in reverse. So i'll go more in depth with it. Push the clutch in and move the shifter into the reverse gear which will have a R letter and push the gas and let off the clutch at the same time just not to fast for either one and if the vehicle starts jerking then put the clutch back in a little until it stops.

That's how you drive a stick shift. I hope this helped and I hope i went in depth enough. Driving a stick shift really isn't that hard once you get used to it. oh and if your having problems going up a hill like the engine wanting to quit because your in to high of a gear then go down a gear it will give you more torque.
